Happy New Year, again
A friend of mine when I asked where she had gone out to eat, told me she went to a wonderful restaurant on a Friday. A Friday during Lent. I asked what she ate and she said she had the yummy chicken. I gasped. "But that's meat!", I said. She told me, "it's fine!". I said, "no no, you cannot eat meat on Fridays during Lent!" She acted like she didn't care. But more so embarrassed. "That's a mortal sin", I said. I think her embarrassment overwhelmed her to the point of wanting to change the subject but still, it broke my heart. But even more, all I could think of was Jesus and His heart. Now ,she's walking around with mortal sin, taking a chance of peril coming into her life. Because of one stupid choice. I pray now she will get to confession and tell Jesus how sorry she is. We don't get to mess with God!
His rules are the only rules are soul must follow. Or else. This world is a test. Heaven is for real. We do not get to do what we want unless it is in accord with God's statutes. Punishment is inevitable if we don't. We have no one to blame but ourselves for wrong choices we do while living in the moment. Because the moment is fleeting. It is gone in the blink of an eye and we are left thereafter with the effects of our poor judgment.
Don't mess with God! "His" judgments are just and "He" is the boss. If we mess up bad at work we get fired. If we are cruel to someone, someone will be cruel to us. Our age of reasoning was put in place "for" a reason. We have youth to prepare us for adulthood and in our adulthood we use the rules that we are taught and have learned. Sure, we will stumble and fall, but we realize we have fallen when we are down on that cold, hard ground. Thankfully, our Lord is always ready to pick us up. Despair only sets in when we don't realize this. But don't ponder His Mercy for too long, the devil wants to keep us down and if we keep listening to that wicked voice then the hill becomes a steep mountain. Our souls are so precious to God and there is not a single one of us that He would forsake.
Don't mess with God! Unless you want to spend the rest of your lives messing with hell, that is not a sensible option. Time runs out before you know it, so stop wasting it on stupid things and thoughts of this world and the moment.
I repeat, Don't mess with God!
