Prayer to Our Lady of Sorrows for Adult Children

Pray for Your Adult Children and Entrust Them to Our Lady of Sorrows
As parents, we know that our adult children have their own free will and make their own decisions. We can no longer interfere or control their choices, but we can entrust them to Our Lady of Sorrows, who understand the pain of a mother’s heart.
Through her powerful intercession, may she counsel them, enlighten their hearts, and lead them to recognize their sins. Pray that they may be drawn back to God’s mercy through prayer, the sacraments, and true repentance. While we cannot walk their spiritual path for them, Our Lady can guide them back to the truth and embrace them with her motherly love. Let us trust in her sorrowful and immaculate heart to lead them home.
Prayer of Entrustment to Our Lady of Sorrows for My Child
O Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, I entrust my beloved child, (Name), into your motherly care. You who stood at the foot of the Cross, witnessing the suffering of your Son, understand my anguish as I see my child stray from the path of truth.
Through your powerful intercession, reveal to (Name) the defects of his/her soul. Touch his/her heart with the grace of repentance. Lead him/her to recognize sin, reject the lies of the world, and return to Holy Mother Church, where the sacraments bring healing and life.
I invoke the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ to cover and protect (Name). May the Holy Ghost enlighten his/her mind and cast away all darkness. In Jesus' Mighty Name, I humbly ask for (mention your petition, e.g., my child's return to the faith, drug addiction, bad relatioship, bad peers, to avail sacrament of matrimony, to go to confession, to forgive his/her father, healing from addictions, to live a holy and chaste life, to enter priesthood, protection from bad influences, or restoration of our relationship).
O Mother of Sorrows, do not forsake my plea. Take my child into your heart and bring him/her back to your Son. I surrender everything to your maternal love, trusting that your intercession will lead to grace and salvation.
Amen.

I am a daughter of the Most High and of His Catholic Church. I introduce myself that way because I am so grateful for that! I have been married to Dan for 36 years and we have three young adult children - Brett, Nicole and Eryn - and three grandchildren - Cash, Bowie and Indy. I was employed as the Adult Faith Formation Coordinator at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City, Georgia for 14 years from December of 2008 to January of 2023. I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology from Catholic Distance University and a certificate as a Catholic Spiritual Mentor from the Catholic Spiritual Mentorship Program.
I left fulltime ministry in the parish to concentrate on organizing events. I would like to extend my outreach to other parishes and organizations who would like to host a wonderful Adult Faith formation event but might not have the experience or confidence to do that on their own. + Consultation about running a successful Adult Faith Formation Program.
+ I also offer different Adult Faith classes and courses that can be accessed by an individual or a group or can be taught by me via zoom or locally in person.
