Struggling to Find Peace at Work? How Isaiah 54:10 Challenged my Thinking (Plus steps to bring more peace to your day!)
Have you ever thought to yourself, “I really should pray more…” and at the end of the day, you're completely exhausted, and prayer never happened?
Me too. You’re not alone.
Between early alarms, to-do lists, deadlines, and caring for our family, it’s no wonder that prayer often becomes something we intend to do, but never quite get to.
And when we do have a moment of peace? Sometimes we’re too tired to even know what to say.
But here’s the good news: prayer doesn’t have to be complicated.
It doesn’t have to be long, formal, or perfect. We can start by weaving it into the little moments we already have.
No pressure, no guilt—just honest connection with God in the middle of real life.
Before the day picks up speed, take a breath and offer it to God.You don’t need to set aside 20 quiet minutes (though that’s lovely when it happens).
This can be as simple as whispering a prayer while brushing your teeth or waiting for your coffee to brew:
“Lord, I give You this day. Guide my thoughts, my words, and my actions.”
Even a 10-second pause to acknowledge Him can center your heart before the chaos begins.
Meal breaks make a natural pause point in the day. Whether grabbing lunch at your desk, eating in the car between errands, or finally sitting down for dinner, take a moment to thank God.
This can be short and simple:
“Thank You, Lord, for this meal—and for getting me this far today.”
Gratitude opens the door to joy, even in stressful seasons.
One of the easiest ways to stay connected with God during the day is to anchor prayer to something you’re already doing.
Try a breath prayer—a short phrase you can repeat as you inhale and exhale. Here’s one I love:
Inhale: “Jesus,” Exhale: “I surrender myself to you,” Inhale: "take care," Exhale: "of everything."
You can do this while folding laundry, walking into a meeting, or sitting at a red light. It brings your mind and heart back to God, even if just for a moment.
Midday is often when our energy dips and our stress rises. This is a great time for a one-minute check-in with God!
Ask yourself: How am I really doing right now? What do I need to bring to God?
You can speak it out loud, journal it, or simply sit with it for a moment. This kind of honest pause can reset your day and remind you that you’re not carrying everything alone.
Lately, I’ve started ending my day with a short evening reflection. It’s become one of my favorite spiritual habits—not because it’s long or elaborate, but because it’s real and grounding.
Here’s how it goes:
Look back on your day, - morning, afternoon, and evening: What are you grateful for?
Notice the tension: What’s weighing on your heart for tomorrow?
Give it to God:
“Dear Lord, thank You for today. I place tomorrow in Your hands.”
There’s something peaceful about naming your worries—and then handing them over to Someone who actually has the power to carry them.
If prayer has felt like one more thing to add to your already busy day, I hope this post reminds you that God is already with you. He’s not asking for perfection. He’s just inviting you to turn toward Him—whether that’s for 30 minutes or 30 seconds.
So don’t wait until life calms down. Start with what you have, where you are.
One verse. One whisper. One honest breath.
If these steps resonate with you, share them with your busy friend struggling to find time to connect with God.
