The Plight of the Poor
A Prophet for all Time and Every Believer in Christ / Part 3
The saga of the Suffering Servant Songs brings the reality of Christ’s significance for our redemption in a presentation that cannot be scrutinized. Since the entire bible relates to Salvation History and Christ is the main character through forgiveness we may not place any other meaning to what we read. One thing modernization may have on future readers and believers in Christ will be subject to AI (Artificial Intelligence) that could have a negative approach to what the Church and the Magisterium hold as truth. Language, and the interpretation of its meaning may appear to change with different translations, but the transposing of pronouns cannot part with the real meaning from antiquity. Remembering what our Scripture teacher taught us in the Seminary; “The bible does not mean what it says what it means.
Continuing with Isaiah and the Suffering Servant Songs: The Lord has given me a well-trained tongue, that I might know how to speak to the weary a word that will rouse them. Morning
After morning he opens my ear that I may hear; And I have not rebelled, have not turned my back. I gave my back to those who beat me, my cheeks to those who plucked my beard, My face I did not shield from buffets and spitting. The Lord is my help, therefore I am not disgraced; I have set my face like flint, knowing that I shall not be put to shame. He is near who upholds my right; if anyone wishes to oppose me, let us appear together. Who despises my right? Let him confront me. See, the Lord God is my help, who will prove me wrong? Lo, they will all wear out like cloth, the moth will eat them up. Who among you fears the Lord, heeds his servant’s voice, and walks in darkness without any light, trusting in the name of the Lord and relying on his God? All of you kindle flames and carry about you fiery darts; Walk by the light of your own fire and the flares you have burnt! This is your fate from my hand: you shall lie down in a place of pain. (Is 50: 4 - 11).
As this Song states`; Christ already is preparing to become the object of ignominy, a continued barrage of rejection and disgrace to the Son of man; the very Son of God. However, the result of God’s tremendous generosity to sinners; which is all of us; makes a future when he comes in his glory. “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings glad tidings. Announcing peace, bearing good news, announcing salvation, and saying to Zion, “Your God is King!” Hark! Your watchmen raise a cry, together they shout for joy. For they see directly, before their eyes, the Lord restoring Zion. Break out together in song, O ruins of Jerusalem! For the Lord comforts his people, he redeems Jerusalem. The Lord has bared his holy arm in the sight of all the nations; All the ends of the earth will behold the salvation of our God. (Is 52: 7 - 10).
Already we see a future time in history when Christ will complete the wrath of God; especially when he cries out; “It is Finished.” (Jn 19: 30).
