The Devil is a distraction.

God is always with us. He is in all of creation, and that is good. This being the case, the Devil is more than just evil. The devil is a distraction. He tries to pull us away from God. He uses temptations that will make us feel good for the moment but then bad in the long run. We are made in God's image and as such we are in tune with him except for when we sin. The devil wants to keep us away from God by showing us the path toward sinning. The path to tune out the devil is not an easy one but it is possible. We can only pick up on a distraction if we allow it to bother us. If you lock in on God then nothing not even the devil can truly pull us away from him.
