Prayer for Wisdom and Courage in Your Word

The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.-Psalm 119:130

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.-2 Timothy 3:16-17

Prayer for Wisdom and Courage in Your Word

as I seek Your word each day, Lord

please give me the wisdom to understand

this feast of knowledge and instruction You have placed before me

meant to further the salvation of the world

too often

I pray without listening

lost and distracted by all that surrounds me

each word You have spoken

or offered through Your apostles

should pierce my heart,

awaken me from my sleep,

confirm my faith

open my eyes and show me Your truth

give me faith to believe

show me the way to impart Your mercy and grace

once there

give me the courage and humility to live what I have learned

let Your love shine through me

so that others may know You

may receive the benefits of Your sacrifice

if I live my life according to Your word

if I love others as You have loved me

as You love all Your children

then Your light will shine forth

and ignite a fire in the world

and make it a place where all will live in harmony

let me be Your voice

proclaiming Your word humbly

to all who will listen
