Blossoms of Prayer

The prayer group in front of an infamous abortion facility included veteran pro lifers and converted men and women. They appeared to be a voluminous spiritual bouquet.
Along a bed of barbarous weeds,
in a field awashed in tears,
penitents firmly planted their souls
under the lush branches of steeled, saintly peers.
At His command,
towering Angels
swiftly flew
to encircle those vulnerable seeds,
whose prayers,
sweet fragrance of love,
drifted to Most Holy High’s Throne.
These Luminous Petals,
The efflorescence of Grace,
voluminously arched
adoringly
before
Agape.
Divinely shielded,
garden’s shoots
sturdied within,
shone,
sprang upwards
and,
in multitudes,
rejuvenated a land
beforehand effaced.

Patricia Hershwitzky, a three-decade educator, holds a degree in Political Science, minor journalism; a Masters in Education and an Educational Specialist degree. Her background includes advocacy for children in the womb. pregnant mothers in crisis, the mentally challenged and emotionally ill. As a breast cancer survivor, Patricia has encouraged women to embrace Catholic responses--meditations and prayer-- during treatment. She holds membership in the Guild of St. Benedict Joseph Labre and is pursuing formation in the Servite Secular Order. Her most recent work, "Speaking One's Soul: Magnifying God's Word in a Madly Godless World," co authored with Mary Sobel Ott, is now available through Enroute Books and Media. A current focus is finalizing a Catholic parental guide through the maze of mental illness.
