I Thirst
On Saturday, students at Villanova University held a rally on campus urging the administration to take further action in removing students who were accomplices in the sexual assault that occurred in the dormitory of the “Catholic College.” Coincidentally, the rally took place during Accepted Students Day on campus.
In 2022, Elijah Katzenall, a Villanova student, sexually assaulted a female student at a dorm. He wasn’t alone as a classmate filmed the altercation like he was an aspiring porn director.
When the student community learned about the accomplices of the expelled would still be graduating. an anonymous person created a Change.org petition that demanded that Villanova stop the male student from walking at graduation.
“The Augustinians failed in their mission to live up to the standards of our faith.” Christine Flowers, a columnist from DelcoTimes wrote. Flowers, a school graduate, was appalled at how the institute attempted to cover up the scandal.
“He should never have had that choice to begin with.” She scolded the administration letting him slip through the cracks.
St. John Paul the Great reminds us that each man has to “uphold the dignity of every woman.” The callous action of these male students was mortifying. No woman should go through this.
Sexual Assault should have no place in our culture. All men are called to protect women and not compromise their boundaries or see them as mere objects of self-gratification.
No More.
