We can have super powers like super heroes. Our super powers come not from ourselves, but from God. Jesus even told us, “whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these, because I am going to the Father.” – [John 14:12]
That is pretty amazing to think that believing in Jesus can allow us to do greater works than the works Jesus did! He says this is “because I am going to the Father.” Being in union with His Father while in Heaven allows greater works to be done apparently. But we must not forget our piece in all of this.
How do we activate these super powers to do greater works than Jesus? We need to believe in Him. It is not us doing the works, but us in union with Jesus, and Jesus in union with the Father. How great must this believe be in Jesus to do these great works? It must be complete and pure.
When Jesus healed, it was common that He touched them or they would touch the tassel of His cloak, though there were other ways Jesus healed. After Jesus’ ascension in Acts 5, people brought out the sick hoping that Peter’s shadow might fall on them. They were healed.
Peter had a great and personal belief in Jesus. We too need a great and personal belief in Jesus. A one-to-one personal relationship. We do not believe in those that we do not know. We do not trust strangers. No, Jesus needs to be our most intimate friend. Only then will we have a great and personal belief in Jesus and unlock our super powers.
