The Deed is Done

Today we remember that solemn deed

Our Lord sacrificed and yet a true convict freed

Darkness settled at His death

A sorrowful moan felt through all the earth

Jesus the Christ was His claim

Crucifixion supposedly ending His earthly reign

A temple cloth ripped in two

A convert another criminal we heard saved too

But though sadness by His followers and mournful crying

His story has not ended in fact this is sort of the beginning

For our Lord would soon be rising

Only death was He bringing to an ending

On day three He did rise

Jesus Christ Lord King of all is alive

No more to suffer but rule mightily

With His Spirit and Father for all eternity

Amen
