Struggling to Find Peace at Work? How Isaiah 54:10 Challenged my Thinking (Plus steps to bring more peace to your day!)
Have you ever wondered why you’re here?
Maybe you’ve felt deep down that there has to be something more, but stopped yourself from going there because it sounded a little too cliché. That feeling? It’s not just yours. It’s not tied to one faith or belief system. It’s a universal human experience—this ache for purpose, connection, and belonging.
“God, infinitely perfect and blessed in himself, in a plan of sheer goodness freely created man to make him share in his own blessed life.
For this reason, at every time and in every place, God draws close to man.”
– Catechism of the Catholic Church, Prologue, Section 1
Let that sink in.
You were created out of love, not obligation.
God didn’t need you. But He wanted you.
He decided that this world wouldn’t be complete without you in it.
He designed you to live in a relationship with Him. That’s where your true identity and purpose begin.
If you’re searching for something—longing for meaning or a place to belong—what if that ache is your soul recognizing what it was made for?
What if God is already longing for you, too?
God isn’t a distant ruler looking for more servants or entertainment. He didn’t create the world because He was bored or lacking.
“Infinitely perfect and blessed in himself…”
He was already complete. And still, He chose to share His life with us.
He chose you.
Read that again slowly.
Let those words settle in your heart: “A plan of sheer goodness… freely created… to share in His own blessed life.”
This isn’t about rules or rituals.
This is about a God so generous that He couldn’t help but overflow with love—into you.
Take in those words: “a plan of sheer goodness.”
What a comforting truth.
Even if life feels heavy right now, God’s original plan for you is still good. Your doubts, your failures, your fears? They don’t cancel out His love. They don’t disqualify you from His presence.
And if you’re a parent (yes, dog and cat moms—you count too!), think about how you delight in your child. That kind of love? Multiply it beyond measure—and you’ll begin to glimpse how God feels about you.
Here’s a not-so-secret secret that I’ve had to remind myself of, too:
God isn’t waiting for you to be perfect. He’s drawing near to you now.
Take a moment and sit with this part of the Catechism:
“At every time and in every place, God draws close to man.”
Every time. Every place.
That means in the quiet and in the chaos.
In your suffering. In your celebrations.
In your questioning. In your wondering.
You don’t have to chase Him down. He is already near.
You just have to notice.
Take a few deep breaths right now and ask yourself:
Where have I seen Him drawing near in my life—maybe without realizing it?
You Were Made for This
You are not random. You are not forgotten.
You were created to live in relationship with a God who is infinitely perfect—and chooses to be close to you.
You are wanted, pursued, and loved.
Not someday. Not once you get it all together.
Right now. Just as you are.
This week, pay attention to the small ways God might be drawing near.
It could be through:
A kind word from a stranger
A quiet moment that makes you pause
A verse that lingers longer than expected
And if you’re unsure where to begin, try this:
“Lord, I want to know You.”
That’s enough.
That one sentence can open the door.
He’s already on the other side.
