Black Catholic Saints
Today is Easter Sunday and as my family and I prepared for another festive family gatheing, I think of days gone by many years ago when I was a child and I remember the holidays from a child's point of view. Chocolate bunny rabbits, jelly beans and Easter basket's filed also with a toy or two. I can see me going shopping with my mother on 125thSt in NYC or Jamaica Ave. in Queens in the early 60's. I remember my mother and I would seem to always run into a freind or relative also shopping for Easter outfits for their children or themselves. I can still see the excitment of the crowed stores and the smell of the resturant we would have lunch in after getting my new dress and patten leather shoes, coat and hat and pocketbook and sometines gloves. Then the big day was here and we would go all dressed up to a relatives house for the best soul food dinners ever, and funny stories and games we adults and kids truly could have imagined. I thank God everyday for Jesus and the life I and my family have today because I am very much aware if not for today noe of it wold have been possible. Happy Ressurection Day!
