Building Up Your Spiritual Resume: Being Active in the Church
Many great events have recently happened. We have had the Holy Triduum of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday, Easter Vigil, Easter Sunday, and now we are in the octave that is the first week of Easter Season. This past Easter Vigil I, along with many people throughout the world, have been confirmed Catholic. We’ve all received our Lord in the Eucharist for the first time. It was a very joyous moment filled with a lot of love and celebration of our Lord. It is said that there is much rejoicing in heaven when one sinner converts. At my parish, there were 30 of us being confirmed, so I like to think that with that, and the many across the world, there must have been a grand fiesta in heaven. Also, with yesterday being Easter Sunday, the day of Jesus’ resurrection, there is more than likely definitely much rejoicing in heaven.
On a sadder note, our holy father, Pope Francis, passed away early this morning. He has joined with the saints in heaven where he is in the eternal presence of our Lord in rejoicing and praying for all of us still here on earth. Despite some of the backlashes he had received during his papacy, I believe that he was a great pope and was truly devoted to his flock. Because he had declared this year as a year of Jubilee, I feel greatly privileged to be able to be confirmed Catholic during such an important year.
Now that I am confirmed into the Catholic Church, I shall take on the next steps to becoming a priest, which I feel is my mission from God. I have dedicated my confirmation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. I think that once I am ordained, I will dedicate my priesthood not only to the Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart, but also to the memory of Pope Francis.
Peace be unto the soul of Pope Francis, may he rest eternally in the love of our Lord. Amen.
