A reflection on the shortest Psalm

Today is 21 April 2025. (As I am writing this) Pope Francis has died. I feel a profound sadness, but, also great joy.
Great joy in the Living Christ. That same Christ that Pope Francis knew, more than almost any of us.
As we remember the words “Christ is risen”! Let us remember, also these words,
“His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master'”. (Matthew 25:21)
And, because this seems to be the Psalm from EVERY funeral I've ever been to,
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my souls
He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever. (Psalm 23)
Christ is risen! Rest in peace, Pope Francis!
