To the Ends of the Earth: Legacy – Week 6, Day 3 – We Need to Be Careful That We Ourselves Do Not Fall
When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears,
and delivers them out of all their troubles.
The LORD is near to the brokenhearted,
and saves the crushed in spirit.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous;
but the LORD delivers him out of them all.
Psalms 34:17–19
But this I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases,
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:21–23
No one escapes grief. The death of a loved one breaks our hearts and crushes our spirits. We experience trouble, struggles, shame, and disappointment. Our place within the kingdom of God does not shield us from the pain of living in a broken world; but when we cry out, our prayers are heard. Our Father is never far from his children, and he desires to deliver us from all our woes.
As Catholic men, we are blessed to belong to a family that forever experiences the unending mercy of our heavenly Father. We who mourn experience the comforting touch of the overflowing presence of God. As we discover the hope that is ours in Christ, we are able to share that message of hope with others. We become shining examples of Christ’s compassion, carrying on his legacy of healing and comfort as we add our own unique voice to the Church. Strengthened by the mercy of God, we can speak life to those who mourn, helping to transform their lives so that they too may leave their own special mark on the Body.

Where has God turned mourning into a renewing love in your family of faith?
