If you only had one more day to live, what would you do? Would you call all of the people you haven't talked to in years and tell them goodbye? Would you go walking barefoot in the snow just because it sounds crazy enough to do? Would you be getting your best outfit ready so you would look your best when you finally see God face to face?
I know this sounds crazy, but really what would you do if you knew the exact time of your departure from this earth? Its almost exhausting, and frankly kind of sad when one thinks of all the people we will leave behind. Both concepts have a sort of sadness in them. It's only human. Our dear Mother Mary, was probably so anguished at the thought of Her dear Jesus not being around to talk to, laugh with, learn from. But She did it. Just as we are all called to do. Remembering this world as a stepping stone to the real life that awaits us, can help us ponder what we would do if we had only one more day.
Preparation now is the key. Perseverance is the task. Trying our hardest to live in the good sight of God, like it's the last day we have, can help us stay focused on the prize.
Some are called to a life of suffering. Some are called to patience in adversity. Some are called to the challenges of greed. Some are called to the despair of poorness. We all have our own diversities, our own concepts of what could make us a better person. The main thing to focus on is individuality. What can I do. How can I make a difference. Some have little time to think, others have more time than they desire.
We need to start thinking not about how much time we have, but of how little time we are given.
What would you do, if you only had one more day?
