Reflecting on the murder of a police officer

On 26 April 2025, I heard what I thought were fireworks.
Now, I am familiar with what fireworks sounds like, and I am aware of what guns sound like.
I think that my brain was trying to make sense of what was going on.
Because I don't generally expect to hear rapid gunfire in the afternoon. After all, there's a reason the news reports “over night” shootings.
I was with my mother and my youngest sister, and we noticed there were a ton of police. Most of Interstates 20 and 520 (the main interstates where I live) were closed down for a few miles. In fact, on ramps were blocked by police cars.
We didn't realize until later what it was. Initially, the news mentioned “two police officers” being shot, one of which was killed, but, there was actually three officers, total What we know about deputies who were shot in I-20 clash/.
One of the other ones had been shot in the face but lived. We didn't realize it was a gun fight, because one of the suspect's guns had been modified to be fully automatic. And you're not expecting to hear that out of the type of gun he had.
When I originally wrote this (I tend to write down my articles before I type them), I thought there were only two officers involved, there were three, and, the one that was injured, the one that was injured, was released, Hospital releases Columbia County deputy who was shot in the face
It was difficult to find anything about the suspect, because the news wouldn't give his full name...he went by his middle name, but, court records would be under his full name.
For instance, mine might be filed under (if they weren't expunged), “Hovey, Adam C”, or “Hovey, “Adam Charles”. Charles is my middle name, and thus, C is my middle initial.
The officer that was killed, it took a while to find out his name, my guess is that it's because the Sheriff's Department of Columbia County was informing next of kin.
So, you may be asking, “it's good that you're keeping us updated, but, what's the point, Charlie”?

And this is my favourite verse of the Bible, “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more, for the former things have passed away, (Revelation 21:4).
One thing I will NEVER do is judge someone's soul, but, to those of you who are thinking about doing something similar,
“But as for the coward, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death”. (Revelation 21:8). What you do in this life, matters in the next.
I don't know the eternal fate of a cop killer that sold illegal steroids and made pipe bombs, Cop killer built bombs as a boy – and family warned deputies about him, 12 On Your Side Investigates: Deputies warned of cop killer before shooting (and neither do you), but, I know how to avoid hell.
Now, the suspect may have very well been bipolar (as one of the articles says), but, if you're stable enough to make pipe bombs, would he have lived, he would not have been able to plead insanity.
I think the shootout was partially premeditated. He wanted to take a life, and he didn't care whose.
And, in the process, succeeded, and lost his own.
“He will render to each according to his works”. (Romans 2:6) I believe we've talked about this verse before) .
