The Influence of the Immanuel Prophecies on Christmas Today
The Absence of Christ will Destroy us!
Perhaps there are some whose thoughts will deter this opinion saying; “I attend Mass on Sundays, keep a good watch on my contributions, help with the marchers who are pro-life, and make sure my children get a Catholic education. So what does this rhetorical comment mean to me?
Those who do not believe in the Passion of Christ and choose to live their lives as if there is no tomorrow will fall into the realm of disaster when they die. There is a reality that too many do not understand and they are the ones who just live day to day without hope of something better. When we are born into a breathing existence our days are already numbered and we could count the days we have left before we die. Our home, the one being prepared by Christ, is not an imaginary existence that may be real for some. It is a promise and that is why having faith is a requirement in order to receive God’s grace that is the only way to everlasting life with God.
To place this perspective in front of non-believers becomes a challenge for the most spiritual minded evangelists. Since we are called to evangelize our Christian understanding to the rest of the world, it requires a full-time adherence to reaching the lost souls of the world. That is the very premise of the Incarnation and Jesus Christ, the Son of God the Father, sent his Son to accomplish. The wonderment of how our Creator became “a hound of heaven” to go after every human who didn’t know about him and what he was waiting for us, and search the alleys and by-ways of human degradation where we may be hiding. Once he finds any of us cowering from sin, he gently picks us up with tenderness and carries us home.
The story of footprints in the sand is the most comprehensive example of how quickly we fall and how Christ picks us up and places any of us on his shoulders. Be assured, when the journey gets difficult, and it will, Christ is there to catch us before the enemy of sin destroys our faith. It is here that we realize what the Incarnation meant to our gaining redemption without having to do anything for it. Social living has taught us that to receive anything in life we must put forth money, bartering, or a promissory note before it becomes ours. Salvation also demanded a ransom to be paid. Christ on the Cross at Calvary was the only one that could pay the price. His Blood shed willingly cleared the ledger that called for payment.
Our belief in this action is our acceptance of his love that he would lay down his life without expecting any repayment. The charge is acceptance and belief that through Christ’s Passion we are saved, forever.
Here, there will never be a loss of our eternal soul and there is nothing left to destroy us
