Are Non-Catholics Saved?

Vincibley ignorant non-Catholics are not saved because there is no salvation outside of the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church which is the body of Christ. Pope Boniface VIII taught in the papal bull Unam Sanctum that:

      " ...outside of her [the Church] there is neither salvation nor the remission of sins, as the Spouse in the Canticles [Sgs 6:8] proclaims: ‘One is my dove, my perfect one.                       She is the only one, the chosen of her who bore her,‘ and she represents one sole mystical body whose Head is Christ and the head of Christ is God [1 Cor 11:3]."

And he taught infallibly that:

       "...it is absolutely necessary for salvation that every human creature be subject to the Roman Pontiff."

And the ecumenical council of Florence teaches that:

       "It firmly believes, professes and preaches that all those who are outside the catholic church, not only pagans but also Jews or heretics and schismatics, cannot share in eternal           life and will go into the everlasting fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels, unless they are joined to the catholic church before the end of their lives; that the unity           of the ecclesiastical body is of such importance that only for those who abide in it do the church’s sacraments contribute to salvation and do fasts, almsgiving and other works of         piety and practices of the Christian militia produce eternal rewards; and that nobody can be saved, no matter how much he has given away in alms and even if he has shed his           blood in the name of Christ, unless he has persevered in the bosom and the unity of the catholic church."

We also see that there is no salvation outside of truth in scripture. Here are several passages:

John 15:5-6 - I am the vine: you the branches: he that abideth in me, and I in him, the same beareth much fruit: for without me you can do nothing. If any one abide not in me, he shall be cast forth as a branch, and shall wither, and they shall gather him up, and cast him into the fire, and he burneth. [Not being inside the body of Christ is being away from Christ.]

II John 9 - Whosoever revolteth, and continueth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that continueth in the doctrine, the same hath both the Father and the Son. [They reject the true doctrine of Christ.]

Luke 10:16 - He that heareth you, heareth me; and he that despiseth you, despiseth me; and he that despiseth me, despiseth him that sent me. [Clergy cannot be rejected.]

John 3:18 - He that believeth in him is not judged. But he that doth not believe, is already judged: because he believeth not in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [They do not believe in the body of Christ, which is not believing Christ.]

Titus 3:10-11 - A man that is a heretic, after the first and second admonition, avoid: Knowing that he, that is such an one, is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned by his own judgment.

Galatians 1:8-9 - But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach a gospel to you besides that which we have preached to you, let him be anathema [accursed]. As we said before, so now I say again: If any one preach to you a gospel, besides that which you have received, let him be anathema [accursed]. [They embrace a false Gospel.]

Hosea 4:6 - My people have been silent, because they had no knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will reject thee, that thou shalt not do the office of priesthood to me: and thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I also will forget thy children. [They reject true knowledge.]

Since they reject the one, holy, catholic [universal], and apostolic religion, which was the only religion instituted and taught by Jesus Christ, they merit punishment. The Church is the only institution which teaches by the Holy Spirit (I TIm. 3:15), so no other institution can teach by the Holy Spirit, and listenting to another institution is embracing doctrine which is contrary to what the Holy Spirit has taught. So in summary, if anyone has the opportunity to embrace the Church and her teachings but rejects it, he is not saved, for he rejects the body of Jesus Christ, which is the rejection of Christ Himself. 

However, those who have not been baptized and have the desire of baptism and embrace the Catholic faith and die prior to baptism, or those who embrace the Catholic faith when martyred are saved.

Prayer for the Schismatics and Heretics

As Thou hast said Lord: Holy Father, keep them in thy name whom thou has given me; that they may be one, as we also are. This we ask in Thy name Lord Jesus, Thou who art one God, in unity with the Father and the Spirit, forever and ever. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, sacred be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And induce us not into temptation, but free us from evil. Amen.

Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with Thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
