Mock Me? Reap Salvation!
Let's remember that Easter Communion and the Glory of the Resurrection is not a one time event or a once a year requirement to satisfy Church laws.
Unfortunately, there are some who treat this scenario as gospel truth and move in their cafeteria adherence to picking and choosing the meaning of why Christ’s Passion is based on their own needs and understanding of Salvation
Who are those that mocked Jesus before his crucifixion? The Roman soldiers, the Pharisees, or the general population that became onlookers? If you answered by agreeing to all of those, you are correct. However, you may have forgotten one more name. It is you and I.
We have all mocked the Lord just by turning our backs on his reason for Incarnation, social ministry for sinners, and the Crucifixion/Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Again take a look at why just following a Church mandate to meet a requirement without realizing what this event during the Easter Triduum was all about, reflect on what Jesus’ response to those who said, didn’t “we expel demons in your name?” was; “Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.” (Mt 7: 21).
Too often many people treat Christianity and the mandate to keep the Sabbath Holy as a commandment God gave to Moses on the Ten Commandments for the Jews who were recently let go from their confinement in Egypt. If this has become the main attraction for believing in the Salvation of humanity then Christianity is going the wrong direction and we are still in our sins, as Paul stated: “and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is vain; you are still in your sins.” (1 Cor 15: 17). It is very rare to find someone who adheres to this truth if their only connection to Christ is once a year attending Holy Mass and for only a reason to satisfy a Church requirement. Yet, with all of the apostasy that has crept into our current church attendance for all denominations is a certain sign that Christianity and its members is slowly drifting apart and faith is no longer a need to be called Christian since we might become a past essence that no longer holds a place with Almighty God.
Mockery is defined as teasing and contemptuous language of behavior at a particular person or thing. It is an insulting or contemptuous action or speech, or a subject of laughter, derision, or sport. (Taken from the Merriam Webster dictionary). This is what anyone of us has thrown before Christ, both in the year 33 A. D. or now in the year 2025. We all have mocked the Salvation that God created for all of humanity. And the Salvation we have all reaped is because of the Passion of Christ and as long as we do the will of his Heavenly Father, we shall all be forgiven and find th\e Beatific Vision is ours to savor, eternally.
