Subject: Making Maria Faustina Kowalska a Doctor of the Church
Your Holiness,
I am writing you to request that you make Saint Kowalska a Doctor of the Catholic Church.
I believe that she is worthy of this title.
The world is certainly in need of Divine Mercy. This apostle of Divine Mercy should be a Doctor of Divine Mercy.
Her devotion, humility, and docility make her a candidate for Doctor.
Her perseverance as a nun in the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy formed her to be a messenger and advocate for Jesus Christ.
Faustina made choices in her life so that she could be a faithful daughter of God, sister of Jesus, and spouse of the Holy Spirit.
I go to her for spiritual help.
I have used quotes from the Diary of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska in daily mediation. I did this some time ago for a year. I am currently doing this again.
I found this practice helpful in coming to know Jesus and know how to live my life as a modern Catholic.
I also frequently pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. I found this to be a source of inspiration and comfort as I try to live as a modern Catholic in today’s world.
I believe that her life, doctrinal approach, and writings are worthy of formal recognition by you.
The Church has already recognized her as a saint. I believe she belongs in that special group of saints who are recognized for their intellect and teaching.
I thought it interesting that the request be made a lay Catholic, and in particular, by this lay Catholic. I would be honored if my request led to her becoming a Doctor.
I believe the Church can benefit from having her as a source of healing with the power and prestige that come from title and authority.
I believe she offers a chance for reconciliation to Jesus for the individual Catholic and the collective Church in a loving, kind, and special way.
I think it is worth emphasizing her personal relationship with Jesus and her desire to share him with the world.
This is definitely a necessary spirit any Catholic must have to be united to Jesus and live in truth.
Her doctrinal approach goes beyond teaching and into “living with” the person as the person journeys to heaven.
Sr. Maria Faustina of the Most Blessed Sacrament is not afraid of self-denial and helping the poor in spirit.
I view her as a companion, friend, teacher, and most importantly, for this letter, as a Doctor.
I believe she is in heaven, waiting to aid those who should approach her.
I believe this saint wants to an instrumental part of the Second Coming of Jesus.
I hope she becomes the 5th female and 38th Doctor of the Church!
If worse comes to worse, I merely contacted you (somewhat!) early in your pontificate to wish you well.
Happy pontificating!
