How does the Holy Spirit communicate and Work Within Us
Eileen Renders
When Jesus was resurrected and told the Apostles that He was leaving them to be with His Father in heaven, the Apostles were sad and concerned about how they could continue doing His work without Him. And Jesus said, He was sending the Holy Spirit to be with them to guide them.
How do we know the Holy Spirit lives within us?
We will trust and believe the Holy Spirit lives within us when we trust in God and follow His commandments.
The Holy Spirit leads us through providing knowledge, increasing our trust, and we feel a strong inner conviction that we are being guided spiritually.
Are there ways that convince us that we are being moved by the Holy Spirit? How does the Holy Spirit communicate with us?
Yes, there are definite ways that convince us that we are being guided by the Holy Spirit. We realize that we are doing and sharing information that we, ourselves, did not know on our own. However, it is extremely important to understand that these occurrences do not occur without being faithful to God, loving Him, and following every commandment that He has set down for us.
How can we be certain that it is the Holy Spirit that is guiding us?
As stated above, we know that we love God with all our hearts and faithfully follow His Commandments. We know that it is not our thoughts or knowledge as we feel inspired through truth, and knowledge that is not the evil one, because our motivation is to help others.
How will we know what the Holy Spirit is asking us to do?
When we understand the words from the Holy Spirit who is united to our spirit, and that our inspiration and motivation is taking us in a new and unfamiliar direction with courage, energy, and joy, we will easily recognize that it truly is the Holy Spirit who is communicating with our spirit.
Did Jesus not tell us that when He leaves us, the Father will send the Holy Spirit to be with us?
Yes, In John 14. Jesus told us that He would not leave us as orphans, and that the Father would send a Paraclete (the Holy Spirit, to lead and guide us.)
