Has Your Faith Been Shaken?
Today on Corpus Christi, we hear the Gospel of Jesus feeding the multitudes. In our world, who could those 5,000 people be?
Literally, the 5,000 could be those going hungry in poor countries or even in our own cities and communities, yearning for God’s provision to sustain their livelihood. It could be food, water, or simply basic necessities.
Symbolically, the 5,000 could be those yearning for peace, spiritual nourishment, and to be deeply satisfied. Those who have enough food often don’t have enough peace, purpose, and deep satisfaction in their lives.
The Eucharist give us both. It give us food to sustain us and deep peace that satisfies. Eucharistic Adoration is a place where many of us find that peace, and receiving the Eucharist at mass each day or week gives us the nourishment we need physically and spiritually.
So whether you're struggling with basic livelihood or you're struggling with finding peace, the 5,000 represent all of us. The Eucharist provides for us all in whatever need we have.
