The Spirit of Christmas
Scripture
John 2:18-19 we find, “Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come; therefore, we know that it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us, but they went out, that it might be plain that they were not of us.”
Note: This passage seems to reveal that there is more than a single antichrist
John 2:22-23 we read, “Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son. No one denies that the Son has
the Father. He who confesses the Son has the Father also.”
Note: In reflection, once again, we realize that there has always been more than “one” who denies that Jesus is Christ
John 4:1-6 This Verse provides us with an understanding regarding which spirits bring us true revelations that are not from God. This is the spirit of the Antichrist, of which you
have heard that it was coming, and now it is in the world already.”
Note: Once again, these verses do not point to one spirit, but rather to many evil spirits that deny Jesus, the Christ, our Savior.
John 7, It is written, “For many deceivers have gone into the world, men who will not acknowledge the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh; such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist.”
Reflection: Once again, we read and can recognize that “many” is more than one, as written down as plural in the word “deceivers.” Therefore, we might discern that these
antichrists are those who deny Christ and have not accepted Him.
It very much sounds as though many of our religious leaders have understood the deepest meaning of the antichrist, yet may not have recognized that there are, and will be, many antichrists.
Some have gone to suggest that one of our Popes could be the Antichrist. This cannot be as none of our popes has ever denied that Jesus is Christ.
Faith and trust in God’s anointed first priest of the Catholic church can be traced back to when Jesus spoke to His disciple Peter saying, “Thou art Peter and upon this rock I will
build my Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” And again, Jeus gave authority to His Church in saying, “Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them,
and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained. Jesus also established the sacrament of Holy Communion and Matrimony. Those who do not follow the Commandments of
Jesus, and deny He is Christ, may conclude that there are many antichrists.
