Who Is God? Part-Three
The Holy Spirit Awaits Our Invitation
Eileen Renders
How beautiful and satisfying, how comforting to know that Jesus told His disciples, “Although I go before you to make a place for you, I will return to take you with Me. But, though I leave you, you will not be alone, for the Holy Spirit will come and be with you.”
If we feel that we are alone and vulnerable today, we need to remember it is not God who left us; it is we who have left Him.
When we do not feel the Holy Spirit’s presence, we may need to remember that we must be fully submissive to God’s will so that the door of our heart and soul is open wide, allowing the Holy Spirit to enter and lead us. When you feel the urging of the Holy Spirit and are being called to serve God, we must fall on our knees and say, “Here I am, Lord, show me the way, I submit to your will.”
Accepting the Holy Spirit is a life-changing moment in our lives, as we surrender ourselves to God’s will and to serve Him through serving others in a private, humble way. We may not know how to serve God, but if we remain patient, and continue to speak to God each evening when we are alone, and continue to show God our willingness and sincerity, God will lead us through the Holy Spirit in His time, and not ours. Continuing to pray for God to increase our trust in waiting for Him, we can be sure the Holy Spirit will show us the way.
Those who are truly ready to serve God, I would highly recommend listening to Pope Leo X1V Audio tapes as he speaks of the Holy Spirit.
There are a couple of his audio tapes on YouTube, and possibly sold online. They are stimulating, educating, motivating, and encouraging.
They, in some ways, affirm what I have learned about praying to God and being in the presence of the Holy Spirit. These feelings and emotions that the Holy Spirit freely gives to each of us far surpass anything we may have expected. We can become removed from the earthly life, other than we live on this earth to love and serve God while working toward bringing back to God any of His sheep that have lost their way. Pleasing God, not people, is a life that finds more peace, joy, wisdom, compassion, and understanding than we ever dreamed we might possess, and all through the power of God.
