Catechumens and Candidates: What is the difference?
For years, pro-lifers have been making their voices heard to ask Congress to “Defund Planned Parenthood”. They make $700 million annually out of our taxpaying dollars. They’ve used it to promote abortion on demand and without apology.
President Trump took a victory lap as his “Big Beautiful Bill” narrowly passed in the House of Representatives. Despite the heavy opposition from many members of Congress on both sides of the aisle, it got done. As part of the packet, it called for the defunding of Planned Parenthood. They are projected to lose nearly $1 billion ($700 million exactly) in government funding.
As someone who has peacefully prayed outside of the giant in multiple places for sixteen years, I celebrate the news that they will finally have to answer to our demand to fund ourselves.
The question now is, will it be enough? The answer is no.
Pro-lifers still have work to do to ensure that abortion becomes unthinkable. Like Dobbs, this is not another victory lap. The culture continues to change, yet the truth must still be proclaimed and never watered down.
Planned Parenthood has suffered another defeat in a week. It is the job of every pro-lifer to continue pressing the attack. Supporters and staff alike are cornered. All they will rely on is their opinions, character assassinations, asking uneducated questions, or stating something vague and false from Reddit or mainstream media to get their point across. This will be an attempt to derail the dialogue to understand your viewpoint.
Yet, we continue to keep the dialogue on a beating track in order to instruct the ignorant mind. We live in a culture that has turned a cold shoulder on what matters. Our loving witness will help change hearts and minds.
Another battle has been won, but the war is far from over. Make no mistake, abortions are still being committed across the United States. There is work that must continue to be done in the public square, outside of abortion facilities, our churches, communities, and even our homes.
Abortion will end when we see how precious the child in the mother’s womb is. Abortion will end when we start becoming our brother or sister’s keeper. Abortion will not end when every Planned Parenthood shuts down due to a lack of funding. Rather, abortion will end when we put God back into our lives and recognize that every unborn person must be protected.
Suit up for the next battle. Onward, Christian Soldiers.
May God bless the Pro-Life movement.
