The Power and Purpose of Forgiveness: A Journey to the Cross
A personal call to help launch a new mission in the heart of Utah
Catholics don’t often see themselves as evangelists.
Not because they don’t believe.
Not because they don’t care.
But because something happened along the way.
Many were never taught how to speak about the faith.
They were given the sacraments—but not the fire.
They were young.
They were told to be good—but never told how to share the Good News.
And deep down, some of us feel unworthy.
“I don’t know enough. I’ve sinned too much. I’ll let the priests handle it.”
Or we fear the backlash:
“What about the scandals? The history? The politics?”
So, we stay quiet.
But here’s the truth:
We are not silent because we are bad Catholics.
We are silent because no one ever showed us how to speak with confidence and love.
The Utah Mission Is Different
This is not about shouting.
Not about debating.
Not about proving anyone wrong.
This is about opening the door—gently, boldly, and beautifully—for those who are searching.
It’s about providing a place to ask real questions—about Jesus, God, suffering, truth, the Bible, and the Church Jesus really founded.
It’s about using the most unexpected tool—an unfiltered, unbiased AI Faith Bot—to let truth rise to the surface without manipulation.
Ask anything. Then follow where the answers lead.
Because no denomination can do this without fear.
But the Catholic Church can.
Why?
Because she is the Church that Jesus Himself started.
She didn’t invent the truth—she received it.
She wrote the Bible—her diary.
She preserved it for 2,000 years.
She holds the same authority Christ gave to Peter and the apostles.
Why is the Catholic Church often referred to as “she”?
Ask the bot. That’s what it’s for.
Other churches were started by men.
They can only offer their own interpretations. And they vary—vastly.
But the Catholic Church speaks with the voice of Scripture, tradition, apostolic authority, and lived witness—unbroken.
That’s why we’re not afraid of hard questions—even from an unbiased AI.
Because the answers don’t come from us.
They come from 2,000 years of Christianity.
The asking happens in a natural way.
The AI is just the beginning.
We are the backup.
A place to land. A place to fall into.
And trust me—many need a good place to fall into.
That was me—Saint Thomas Catholic Church, 1999.
I Found It Late—But Not Too Late
I consider myself incredibly blessed to have discovered the Catholic faith later in life.
I went through RCIA in the heart of Utah—at the invitation of my wife. I was surrounded by good Mormon people and shaped by that background. And yet, week after week, the Church unfolded like a treasure chest I never knew existed.
It wasn’t just information—it was revelation. I was so excited.
That was 24 years ago.
And I still am.
I remember thinking:
“How have I never seen this before?”
I was lit up. It all made perfect sense.
My eyes were washed clean.
And I didn’t water it down.
I discovered the Church beneath the Cross—
while the priest abuse scandal was unfolding.
And yes, I had already learned about sin.
Only through the Cross of Christ could I make sense of it.
And I did. My focus stayed where it needed to be.
It still is.
Over the years, I’ve met some of the most devout Catholics you could imagine—people who make me feel lukewarm in comparison.
I spent a weekend with Trappist monks at Holy Trinity Monastery in Huntsville, Utah. It felt like stepping out of time and into eternity.
I knelt beside faithful RCIA leaders—people who not only taught the faith but lived it.
I saw Catholics deep in silent prayer before the Most Blessed Eucharist housed in the tabernacle—people who radiated a stillness and holiness I can only aspire to.
So no—this isn’t about one kind of Catholic versus another.
This is about the whole Body of Christ coming alive again.
Each of us with our story. Each of us with our part to play.
Why Now? Because Silence Is Not Charity—Nor Clarity
This is not the time for passive Catholicism.
Our faith is not a private comfort.
It’s a public rescue mission.
There are souls in Utah—good people, devout people—who’ve never truly encountered the Church Jesus Himself began.
They’ve seen fragments.
They’ve seen imitations.
They’ve seen misunderstandings.
But not the fullness.
And I’ve seen what spiritual confusion can lead to.
I’ve seen people lose their lives to suicide.
Believe me—I have.
They’re not our enemies.
They’re our brothers and sisters.
And if we love them—
We can’t stay silent.
Are You Being Called?
We need souls to inhabit this new mission.
You don’t need to be perfect.
You don’t need to have all the answers.
You don’t even need to know everything about Church teaching.
You just need to bring your love.
Your presence.
Your story.
If something stirs in you right now—if your heart is burning with even the smallest “yes”—then come.
The Utah Mission is launching now.
We are building a team of humble, faithful Catholics ready to walk with seekers across Utah and beyond.
We want to help lead them to the nearest RCIA program in their town.
We want to give them truth, not pressure.
This is doable.
By letting them ask questions freely,
through a tool trained on Christian truth—
something good is happening.
Think about this.
Pray about this.
Can you see this in the light it is being presented in?
Will you help carry the torch?
