Morning Reflection on Love
PSALM 23: 1-3
A Reflection
VS. 1- The Lord is my Shepherd. Which means that I belong to Him. I am His sheep. His property. He owns me and therefore He can do with me whatever He pleases.
vs. 2- In green pastures He MAKES me, MAKES me lie down; If God owns me, He can very well MAKE me lie down anywhere He wants. But in this case, He MAKES me lie down in green pastures. Green pastures- The places in our souls where we are fed spiritually. Green pastures are peaceful, and safe, with our Shepherd watching over us. And He leads me beside still waters. Inner peace and stillness.
vs. 3b- He restores my soul, when I feel like I can't take it anymore, when life just beats me down into the ground, I feed upon His green pasture, and I drink His life giving water, and my soul is restored. Restored to inner peace and stillness. He guides me along right paths, He shows me the way to go, the decision to make, the way becomes clear when we feed upon His green pasture. He guides us in the direction in life we should take and that is best for us.
But why would the creator of the universe go to so much trouble? Guiding each one of us, leading and feeding us, going after us when we stray?
It is for His Name's sake. It brings Him glory when we live our lives reflecting His goodness, and His love. It brings glory to His name, the Name above all Names. Glory to God in the Highest! Holy is Your Name! HOLY, HOLY, HOLY is the Lord God Almighty! AMEN.
