All Saints in heaven and on earth please pray for peace!
Have you heard the voice of God?
This may appear to be a test to see if anyone understands the silence of the Holy Spirit speaking through our heart. However, there is a very pronounced feeling that needs no audible sounds if our hearts are in tune with the God we do not see, yet he speaks in words that need no ears.
We all might have heard about the adage of a voice telling us to do such and such without being able to pinpoint from where it originated. It happens to most people and some adhere to its prompting while many ignore what they assume is just a mental thought without sustenance.
When Mary heard the words from Gabriel regarding the Son of God she would carry in her womb, her response was, “May It be done to me according to your word.” (Lk 1: 38). As Zachariah was serving as a priest in his division’s turn before God, the angel Gabriel told him his wife would bear a son and he was to be named John. Because of his doubt, regarding this message, Zachariah would be speechless until the birth of John the Baptist. (Lk 1: 19 - 25).
When they had departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Rise, take the child and his mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you.” (Mt 2: 13).
St. Joan of Arc heard voices and saved France from untold disasters. St. Francis of Asisi heard a voice call on him to rebuild his Church. The process of the Holy Spirit speaks to millions of us to do sometimes unbelievable tasks to advance the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. Of course we must use discernment and recognize the difference of the voice of God to the voice of evil calling many to do what is not the voice of God. How often we hear the performers of evil deeds saying a voice told me to do this. They probably did hear a voice but it was from the devil.
I have mentioned several times about hearing a terrible scream at 3 AM while at prayer as a night adorer before the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Upon returning to my prayers after finding nothing or no one in stress, a voice told me, clearly and succinctly, the scream came from the depth of Hell, 3 AM is when most evil is committed, and pray for the poor souls in Purgatory.
Like those in scripture that have become saints as well as events with Christ and John the Baptist, anyone of us can be sent to perform a task that enriches, warns, and stands as purveyors of the Word of God. Listen; he may be calling you as well.
Being open to the voice of God; by an angel, in a dream, or the Holy Spirit who is the prime announcer of the grace of God, do not be reluctant to follow at least with trust to what is holy, free from personal gain, and just might become a sacrifice to stand for the holiness of the Trinity of God.
