Today's Gospel recants when the Pharisees, thinking with all of their so-called wisdom, tries to set up Jesus for a fall. Asking Him why His disciples were picking the tops of the wheat and eating them on the Sabbath. Of course, Jesus replies with profound words, "the real wisdom", as to asking them if they hadn't read already what David did when him and his companions were hungry, how he went into the house of God and ate the bread of offering, which he nor his companions but only the priests were allowed to eat. Making their hearts seethe with rage only to add , as Jesus goes on to say, that something greater than the Temple was standing right before them. The Pharisees were great scholars of the law and to be reminded that just maybe they missed this part enraged them. It made them look stupid. Which really, they were, for not paying attention to the Sacred writings and prophecies that they supposedly, painstakingly studied.
There are still people around us who try to proclaim they know so much but unfortunately are found not to know really nothing at all. The modern day Pharisees. I call them "control freaks". Because no matter how many times you speak the truth, if they do not say it first, you are wrong. I walk away. I let them have their Glory within their own minds because far be it from me that I could ever be right. I live to learn. Learn the true Wisdom that God shows us as we seek it with humble and contrite hearts. I used to get upset in my rebellious younger years, but now, that I'm older, I rely on God to be the Teacher. The Scholar of life. His truths are easy to understand if we constantly try to keep ourselves in His state of Grace. Mercy and Grace. Two key factors in attempting to attain Eternal Wisdom and a guide to the path that leads us home.
