Mary Leora's Story
In the Old Testament, we read of three battles that were won with the aid of music and singing in at least three prominent instances: the fall of Jericho, Gideon's victory, and Jehoshaphat's victory.
Because of curiosity this morning, I was reading from Chronicles to see how many kings there were, who had many wives. I had read that Solomon had 800 when he died. And I was wondering when did this concept of having many wives stop.
What caught my attention though, while reading Chronicles, was Yahweh telling his people how they would wins wars when confronting enemies. They were to go forth singing and praising God!! Their battle was won, just as in Jericho when they marched around the walls for seven days and the walls came tumbling down!!! Yea God!!!
Right now in my life, I needed to hear that strong message. I am facing medical problems, and my son Brian may have Prostate Cancer. Facing these 'enemies' daily, His Words remind me to trust in the Lord with all my heart and lean not upon my own understanding! His Words, 'don't fear or be anxious for nothing,' keep popping into my mind! His Word tells us how to live life and live it abuntantly if we hear and obey! We must!!!
So, now again I am reminded to live in the "La De Da Land," and sing and praise God as the day goes by. Dance too if the music moves me!!
So, my dear friends and family, it is in our life when we are facing any type of enemy! We should let the battle belong to the Lord: singing, praise, and giving thanks, raising a hallelujah, trusting in God with all our heart, and lean not upon our own understanding!
Do this, obey and God will go before us and deal with all of the conflicts we have in our life. Oh yes, God will; for He does not lie, and all His Words/Promises will be fulfilled when we obey!!
Here are two songs examples that demonstrate God's use of music to inspire, unify, and ultimately, bring victory to his people.
