Four Walls, a Soul and God
I used to think being chosen—even half-heartedly—was enough.
That if someone gave me some of their time, a little of their affection, a fraction of their attention, I should be grateful. After all, in a world full of rejections, being an option felt better than being abandoned.
But the truth?
Being someone’s second choice is not humility.
It’s self-abandonment.
God doesn’t do half-love. And neither should we.
In the Gospels, Jesus never made anyone feel like a backup plan. He didn’t heal selectively. He didn’t dine only with the “deserving.” He sought the ones who were forgotten. The outcasts. The rejected. And yet, He never made them feel like burdens. He called them beloved.
So why do we accept anything less?
Sometimes, abandonment is God's mercy in disguise.
We mourn when people leave, when they ghost us, when they stop showing up or loving us well. But what if their absence is God’s protection? What if their silence is Heaven’s way of saying, “You deserve better than this”?
God never asks you to stay where you are merely tolerated.
He invites you into relationships that reflect His love—steadfast, sacrificial, and sure.
We settle because we fear being alone. But loneliness in company is worse.
Many of us cling to toxic connections out of fear. We accept breadcrumb love because we don’t believe a feast exists. But God didn’t create us to survive on scraps. He sent His Son to show us what real love looks like: total, intentional, unwavering.
And anything less than that is not divine—it’s damaging.
So, if you’re crying over someone who walked away…
Remember: God isn’t punishing you. He’s preserving you.
From people who can’t value your heart. From places that drain your soul.
From relationships where you’re seen but not cherished.
Because yes, abandonment hurts.
But being someone’s convenience? That breaks you slowly.
You weren’t created to beg for time, affection, or truth.
You were created to be chosen.
Freely. Fully. Fiercely.
So don’t run after those who left.
Don’t wear your wounds like proof that you weren’t enough.
Don’t confuse someone’s absence with your worth.
Let them abandon you.
God never will.
It’s better to cry alone for a while,
Than to fake a smile and walk unloved.
God didn’t make you to shrink for others—
He made you to rise. Worthy. Enough.
