A view of hell from a perspective of those living there
It can be an undesirable term for many people to even think about let alone discuss. However, Jesus spoke quite a lot regarding the existence of this place no one should ever want to go. Is it a short stay until a sinner reaches the opportunity to make amends with God, completely forgiving everyone who finds a one way journey into this place of suffering without him?
There is no doubt that those who end there were not because God turned his back on them. God could not do that to the very creatures he so lovingly brought into the existence of a world that was made for them.
We cannot be united with God unless we freely choose to love him. But we cannot love God if we sin gravely against him, against our neighbor or against ourselves. “He who does not love remains in death. Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.” Our Lord warns us that we shall be separated from him if we fail to meet the serious needs of the poor and the little ones who are his brethren. To die in mortal sin without repenting and accepting God’s merciful love means remaining separated from him for ever by our own free choice. This state of definitive self-exclusion from communion with God and the blessed is called “hell.” (CCC 1033).
The reality of so many who do not believe in this entity of eternal death completely fool themselves and are the impetus to draw too many more to follow their misconception of God’s mercy and believe everyone goes to heaven. It is like entering a make-believe amusement at a theme park and after encountering the frightening symbols along the way they exit unharmed and freed from all fear. That is not what eternity holds for those who ignore the very teachings of Christ.
Hell is a complete absence of light, mercy, and hope that have all but disappeared from any possibility of a purging that does not reflect God anymore. The mention that I just recently wrote about hearing the scream that the Lord told me came from the depth of hell is a prelude to the agony each resident in hell will have to blame themselves for. This will not cease after a sore throat that really won’t be like our human occurrence of pain. Knowing about God that they had rejected will become a continuous understanding that what they have decided to adopt has no hours that allow sleep. Since there is no time or space in eternity, the loss they experience just remains in a motionless presence forever.
