The treasure we have in Mary
Acts of kindness, patience, mercy and forgiveness are all beneficial to our treasures we store up in Heaven. But if we turn around and do not have Love , they're erased in our arsenal of good works. We cannot be kind one moment and then turn around and treat people within ingratitude and failure to see "their" worth or situation of life. Our contemplation of their reasons must be considered at all times. Just as we would wish them to do for us. It is been said, for our ears to hear, that we do not know what someone may have gone through or what has happened in their life, so we must treat one another with the same perspective that God would. That is "Love". How can I call myself a child of God, if I do not promote His love, which He has for all of His human creation. He is the Father of all and when I do not act with Love, that is a big no no. Yes, in our humaneness, we grow tired from our daily labors, but that is no reason to cut someone off because they upset our daily rhythms and let their actions or opinions turn us into judgmental and unforgiving beings. We do not know what their life or even their day has consisted of. Maybe it was hours at the bedside of a dying loved one. Maybe it was the torment of an abusive spouse or rebellious child. Maybe they're impatience was being tended to to rush to the side of an emergency. Maybe it is loneliness, maybe hunger, maybe despair from a life of prayer with no relief. God challenges us daily in all sorts of ways to prove "our love" for Him. Our result must be that we handled "everything" with love. That boss or client might be dealing with something unknown to us but only to God. So many things of reference from the very mouth of God, Jesus, refer to loving one another. The good Samaritan, the woman at the well, the Roman soldier's faith in Jesus to cure his son, the love Jesus showed and proclaimed to His enemies while hanging on that cross.
It is true, the Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. God says that if we speak in the tongues of angels but have not love we are like clanging cymbols. If we have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and knowledge and have that faith that can move mountains but have not love, we are nothing. Everything of our good acts are meaningless and worthless, if we do not have love.
Saying the word "Love" but not performing or promoting this great treasure can detour our paths to heaven. We can climb that mountain and have every step be heavy trodden, or allow the feet of Jesus to become ours and walk with lightness as each step leading with love, becomes the Spirit that lies within each of us.
Let me not just say the word "Love", but perform it wholeheartedly, the way that Jesus does for me.
