The Innocents
My New Car
Look my new car
My new watch
Clubs that’ll let me hit far
Look my new boat
Ain’t she a beaut’
Can’t wait to put her into my moat
Oh a Rolex the newest one
So unbelievably precise
Definitely second to none
Who’s that at my door at this hour
I spy a dreadful sight
Everything has just gone sour
For this visitor was a messenger
Not sent from God
But from that place lower
Sharing he asked of me
Of course not
I was not speaking jokingly
Suddenly my life now turned
Upside down
I feel like butter just churned
These treasures apparently I was to distribute evenly
To always be generous
Not like me miserly
My chance is now over
I did not notice the chains
To my own greed was I a lover
Not of man as I should
Hear my story listen
For I did far less then I could
You cannot take it with you never ever
Oh why did I not learn
Now in this fury forever
Please hear and heed if you can
Listen always to Jesus
Not the store mannequin
Amen
