On the Water

On the water I try to walk

My mind is stubborn so I balk

Faith is all that is required

But I am so terribly tired

You ask me to have trust and hope

The devil screams you have no rope

I hear him but not You Lord

Why do I not hear Your Word

On the water harsh and windy

Let me just sit here I’m comfy

Let me stay where it’s easy

Let me enjoy my selfish pity

Okay Lord I will try once more

To the worlds noise I will shut my door

In Your arms okay I’m ready

Trust I have oh look it’s easy

My mind focused on You not waves or spray

Calm no screams or agony

Your Will Lord I will do

Yes all that you ask me to

The water is now smooth and nice

I skate along as if it were ice

Because my faith and trust unbroken

My love for You let it never be undone
