Abound in Hope
Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg teamed up for the remake of War of the Worlds during the summer of 2005.
The remake was a success in the box office.
Based on a classic novel by H.G. Wells, the movie follows a family escaping an alien invasion. Ray Ferrier and his children, Rachel and Robbie, encounter a strange thunderstorm that knocks out the power through an EMP blast.
They soon have to run for their lives as the aliens attack while escaping north to Boston. By the time they reached Boston, the aliens had been defeated thanks to microorganisms God had placed on earth through his wisdom.
Like its original film and novel, each offers a lesson in Divine Intervention.
Humanity's Limitations
The aliens had far more powerful science than their human counterparts, which gave them an advantage. Each of us has limitations. It is up to us to know what they are.
Psalm 121 reminds us that we are “Created in the image of God, we learn from our limits that God is God and we are not” (Psalm 121:4). God can use our limits to make something good. The film shows that the aliens would be defeated by an unlikely creation from God.
Divine Intervention
The film focuses on how God intervened. Every day, he does the same for humanity. Throughout history, God is credited for peace in places where peace was a far reach, a person making a miracle, the list goes on.
When God placed bacteria on Earth, he did it to help the human race survive, as the aliens were not immune to them.
The movie was well done with many twists and turns. It does make us think more of how God always intervenes for us in the event of great calamities or utter chaos.
