Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person. Col 4:6

A Writer's Prayer

Lord,

I struggle to find Your will in my work

am I meant to describe Your creation?

am I worthy?

images tumble through my head

words spill onto the page without my consent

I doubt myself

is this a gift?

is it meant to be?

is this my place?

some days, it is easy as breathing

others, it is addiction

and still others, I want to walk way

of what value are my words?

is anyone listening?

have I wasted this gift?

please, Lord

help me to find a path to Your will

bring stories that edify

and clarify Your grace

keep me from selfish worry

that words are not enough

give me the wisdom to know

that not everything I write has meaning

remind me that there is no fixed price

for what I have to say

let me sing Your praises

give meaning to life

create worlds where people understand

all You have bestowed
