You know, I've always been amazed at how there are some people that will take Bible verses out of context to make them say something that they don't say. A good example of this, is the people who think that The Bible teaches a flat earth.
Now, besides not seeing any evidence of this myself, I think it's a misunderstanding.
Let's start with the term, “four corners”.
First, I am going to give a definition of the term, “locality in the southwestern United States at the intersection of 37°N with 109°W where four states—Colorado (eww), New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah—come together, the only such place in the country”. Four Corners
Wait a minute, that's not the four corners of the earth, but, you'll notice, that they all intersect.
So, let's go The Bible,
“He will raise a signal for the nations and will assemble the banished of Israel, and gather the dispersed of Judah, for the four corners of the earth.” (Isaiah 11:12).
“After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, that no wind might blow on earth or sea or against any tree”. (Revelation 7:1)
“And when the thousand years are ended, Satan, Satan will be released from prison and will come out to deceived the nations that are at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle, and their number is like the sand of the sea”. (Revelation 20:7-8).
Here's the thing, none of this implies the earth is flat or even that the Bible teaches that the earth is flat.
I always took “four corners of the earth” to refer to the four cardinal directions, North, South, East, and west.
The truth is, none of those verses say the earth is flat, even more than the four corners in the US imply those states are flat.
(Speaking of which, neither is my native state of Iowa, DEBUNKING IOWA MYTHS: IS IOWA REALLY THE FLATTEST STATE weirdly enough, my home state of South Carolina...which has mountains, is flatter than Iowa...which doesn't).
Anyway, y'all, since, as my niece put it, “more people believe the earth is flat now than they did that (referring to the time period of Columbus, by the way, since Thomas Aquinas knew that the earth was round, so did most educated people during the Middle Ages; What I Learned from U.S. Catholic Magazine
