Holy Water
Everyone has one you know! Some are tall and wide and others are short and small. It holds our lives achievements and disgraces. Are ups and downs. Our joys and our sorrows. Every emotion we've ever felt. Everything our heart experienced. All the tears we have shed. A record. Pulled open and read to us when we meet God face to face. It's going to be joyful, reminiscent, embarrassing, the truth. All the goings on WE encountered in our journey of life. Our own private file cabinet. The secrets we thought were hidden. The hurts we thought we went through alone. The prayers we prayed and the words we spoke. I need to remember this more! I wouldn't be so stubborn. I would stop more and think about my words, my actions. I talk a big talk lots of times and then our Lord tests me to see if I can really walk the walk and I feel miserably so many times. Crawling on my hands and knees like a lost soul in a barren desert who needs water or I'll die.
Thankfully, I find relief at the Holy Well of His forgiveness. The Spring that never runs dry. How many times have I come to Him, thirsty, only to have the water ready for me as if He were waiting for me, expecting me. Always with a smile on His face and outstretched arms.
The file cabinet will contain our life. Millions upon millions will be present, under lock and key, with our name on it. Only to be opened by God Himself. For His eyes and ours only. Am I going to be able to stand before God Himself and watch and listen to all of my files? Gosh, I pray so. Listening to His verdict and me knowing what He deems is justified, because of my files. The world has gone a little (dare I say) haywire. Lots of tests. Lots of chances to be good. Lots of temptations to resist. Lots of opportunities to follow Jesus or choose ourselves. Our files will show us just exactly how we lost or conquered our battles. They will show us the real person that we were.
What's in your file cabinet? I know mine needs a lot more pages of good. More surrenders, more holiness. Life is gone in the blink of an eye they say. Let's start getting our file cabinets worthy of a good story that we can sit peacefully and watch our God read aloud to us. A comforting bedtime story, where the ending reads "and they lived happily ever after".
