Denial of freewill is denial of reality
Before we get started, please check out my previous article, here; No, the Bible does not teach that the earth is flat, check out my latest on Locals; Coffee and Christianity: Episode 96: A reflection on Psalm 98, and, if y'all would really like to help me out, go here; Help with Medical bills
Hey y'all, keep me in your prayers. I'd rather not say why, but, please do. I'm trying very hard to reach out to a friend, but I'm not getting a response. Thank you.
Anyway,
“The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want; he makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside still waters; her restores my soul. He leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil: your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepared a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows,
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD for ever”.
Psalm 23 (like, the whole thing, but, if you're curious, v. 1-6)
Okay, so, some things to remember here. The LORD is my shepherd, now, why is this important? It's important because, even though we're independent and capable of free will, we still need God to guide us, that's why he gave us commandments.
“I shall not want”, yeah, don't complain, because God doesn't owe you anything.
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil”, because, here's the thing, good will ALWAYS triumph over evil.
I'm not going to go through the thing line by line, but, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD for ever”.
And that's just it! Although the original writer's intention (most of the Psalms are traditionally have been believed to have been written by King David), and while he probably wasn't thinking of his heavenly home, you and I should be.
