Twas the Night!
Recently, my husband and I experienced an event in our life, that we had never experienced before. Coming home from Mass on Sunday: we came to a 4 way stop. We stopped and proceeded north when a car going west slammed into our car. I remember looking up and seeing it right at the time it crashed into our car. Both side air bags exploded and due to that the car was totaled. Bob was taken in an ambulance to ER, his BP soaring, head and back pain from being slammed into the air bag. Myself, a major burn from the air bag chemicals and breathing problems for the rest to the afternoon.
While in ER for 4 hours, after tests done on both of us--all major problems ruled out: I watch as that BP was taken every 15 minutes and praying that he was going to survive this "event." Praise God, he did.
Three days later, the whiplash aches, and pains had us needing medication to help recover and sleep. Also, there came that PTS syndrome of a brain recalling the moment of impact. Anxiety and stress came, as calls had to be made and the waiting period has us wondering how long before another car in our life. Thoughts of "will their insurance take care of all expenses" and paying off my Esmeralda--the car I named and dearly loved for past 2 years.
Today, here comes the sweet Lord twice to help me recover from this experience. Going out on the deck in the early morning, I start to sing that Christmas Carol---'Angels We Have Heard on High'. Immediately, I am reminded. the way to HEAL all and get past any event---is praise, worship. singing as the day goes on. Time to get to the land of LA DE DA and enter into His Presence with Praise and thanksgiving. As my children reminded me---the car is nothing, Mom ---most important you both are alive and recovering.
Then this afternoon, as I once more thought of "never experiencing a major car accident---here comes His Inner Voice---"This is nothing---think of all the events people are dealing with all over the world! This is nothing---but a bump in the road."
Oh my Lord, yes, people are in wars. starving, living on the streets, having their loved ones killed in crimes, or churches shot up too. Tornadoes, flooding, Hurricane Erwin about to hit right now Their homes burned down ---well the list really can be endless can't it?
Again, daily we live Psalm 130--- "Out of the depths I cry to you, LORD; Lord, hear my voice."
We trust, we wait, we believe---or we will stay lying on the streets of life, bleeding and dying. If we do not know the Great I AM, Who is the Truth, the Way and the Light---we are barely living--waiting for the next EVENT to come our way.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding" Proverbs 3:5-6.
Ya hear now? Ya better--your choice. :)
