The Saint from Philadelphia: St. Katharine Drexel
Two years ago next month, I started writing articles about the Catholic faith for the Catholic365 website. Since then, I have written and posted 100 articles on such topics as the Thrice-Holy God, Our Blessed Mother and the saints, the Papacy, and current issues affecting the Catholic Church.
It is most appropriate that I offer my thanks and appreciation at this significant milestone in my Catholic writings. First and foremost, I thank God for His help with my writings and for His blessings in my life, namely my family and friends, the Catholic Church, and our nation and its heritage of freedom and democracy.
“You are my God, I give you thanks; my God, I offer You praise. Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, His mercy endures forever.” Psalm 118:28-29
I am especially grateful to Jesus whose death on the Cross and Resurrection has restored humanity’s relationship with our Creator and opened up an opportunity for eternal salvation to us. I am especially grateful to the Holy Spirit for His inspiration and guidance to the Church as an institution and to us who make up the Church.
I am very much grateful to the Holy Spirit for our new Pope, Leo XIV. I am very confident that our new Pope will provide much needed leadership and faith in these turbulent times.
“When I see Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and stars that You set in place—What is man that You are mindful of him, and a son of man that You care for him? Yet You have made him little less than a god, - crowned him with glory and honor.” (Psalm 8:4-6).
I am very grateful to the editors of Catholic365 for posting my writings and those of my fellow Catholic writers whose work appears on their website. The editors are providing a very spiritually rich venue for the exchange of Catholic thought and faith.
I am very grateful to the many, many people who have read my writings these past two years. The Catholic365 website tracks these numbers for us writers and I am humbled every time that I see these statistics. Some of my articles have been more widely read than others but I am grateful to each person who takes the time to read something that I have written.
When I write an article, I ask for the Holy Spirit to inspire me and help me to get it right. Sometimes, the Holy Spirit’s inspiration comes like a tidal wave and I pray that I am accurately writing what is being communicated to me. For those times when I have gotten it right, I thank the Holy Spirit for His assistance. I also acknowledge that there have been times when I have not gotten it right.
I truly enjoy writing and I am grateful to God for providing me with the skills to write and opportunities to share my writing. I pray that what I am writing is pleasing to Him, glorifies Him and inspires and illuminates every one who reads what I write. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
