3 legends of the Christmas cactus
In the 1900s, America’s returning war vets found societal-reintegration to be awkward. They were expected to ignore trauma, get jobs, find wives and start families. Meanwhile, modernized motorcycles offered escape, freedom and space. Growing bike clubs satiated cravings for fellowship, camaraderie and the adrenaline that had once bathed their brains in battle. Yesterday's war machines are today's logistical means toward spiritual warfare as 3rd-world priests minister to rural Catholics on dirt bikes.
The motorcycle industry exploded when the U.S. Department of War commissioned Indian and Harley-Davidson to create >100,000 war-motorcycles. Engineers were told to bulk them up for battle. Today they combat spiritual warfare. No disrespect was intended, but alliterative nomenclature developed. Speaking in persona Christi, we have the Heavenly Harley, Our Lord's Liberator and the Trinity's Triumph, etc.
Harley's 1936 knucklehead engine brought reliability and power. The US-mechanized infantry and cavalry adopted the WLA-model souped-up with leather saddlebags and rifle-scabbards. It was fondly called the “Liberator.” After the wars, veteran-makeshift squads and platoons rumbled the states on the very-machines they rode in battle. This bridged their past by offering the healing they needed in the present. Searching for PTSD-relief, these empathetic support groups promoted positive coping and healthy-closure through offloading scary-stories involving perp-pranks during wilder-wartimes. But, it was all done without the psyche-drugs handed out to vets today. Initial fashions were borrowed from WW-2 airmen in the form of flight jackets. Resilient to wind and rain-resistant, leather provides warmth and dryness. Today, we see leather pants, chaps and other animal skin bulking-up against elemental-extremes.
Motorcycles, Monstrances and Mass Kits. In northern Uganda, a total of 24 martyrs led by Charles Lwanga were either beheaded or burned alive for refusing to meet the royal carnal needs. The youngest was only a teenager. Today, this northern archdiocese has had an explosion of priests and seminarians due to these martyrs' witness. Pew research suggests that by 2050, Uganda will house one of the 10-largest Catholic populations globally, all things being equal. Currently, dirt-bikes serve as the best priestly-transport but there are not enough for all deacons and priests to make their calls. A link is provided here for those interested in helping or for more information.
Who knew that the evolutionary-significance of the Harley-Davidson would lead it into spiritual combat? These bikes have replaced the "donkey" by which Christ is carried into Jerusalem, in our modern unbloodied sacrifice on Calvary.
Hosanna to the King of David.
Hosanna in the highest.
