Toleration
No matter how many times I pluck those nasty weeds from the ground, it seems like two more come up in its place. It's a never-ending job that I refuse to use pesticide on. So I don't get angry anymore. I just keep pulling them out.
Oh! The labor of such a menial job! Today is Labor Day, and with the sweat on our brows we toil away at our jobs, no matter what they are. Whether it be going to a construction site or desk or getting the family breakfast, lunch and dinner, it is all work. So why not do it with a smile. Dreaming of that cozy living room chair, or snuggly bed, we all have a rest at the end of each day. I've even succumbed to looking at my bed as I'm making it and saying, "I'll be back!". It always brings a smile to my face.
The harvest is rich but the laborers are few when it comes to the Kingdom of God. We must strive daily to stay as close as we can to that Eternal reward we receive after our labors are completed. The fulfillment of a day spent in honest labor is sealed by the promise that this hard work won't last forever. We will sleep eternally someday, and that is an inevitable promise from our God, He promises great riches in Heaven from the fruits of our labors.
Labor Day is designated for everyone. Young and old. The only Holiday of recognition for those who truly offer their work to God by continuing on day after day, hour after hour, to remain faithful to the task at hand.
God bless our work. The work you have chosen for us. No matter what it is, may we do it with joy and always begin with welcoming you into each effort.
