First Saturday Devotion
Submitted by Thomas Stidl
The practice of First Saturday Devotion was given to Sister Lucia at Fatima, Portugal in 1917 to prevent war. It is used to console the hearts of Jesus and Mary and to help bring about peace in our world and our daily lives. The reparations are directed to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. It is done for five consecutive months on the first Saturday of each month. This devotion secures the supply of graces necessary for the soul’s salvation. The devotion consists of four parts:
Part 1 is sacramental confession within eight days of a first Saturday. It can be before the first Saturday or after the first Saturday.
Part 2 consists of receiving Holy Communion on the first Saturday with the intention of making reparations to the Immaculate Heart of Mary for allsinsand impurities.
Part 3 consists of praying five decades of the Holy Rosary (usually the Joyful Mysteries that are recited on Saturdays) in reparation for all offenses and insults to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Part 4 consists of a fifteen minute meditation on the mysteries of the Rosary with the same intentions of making reparations. This author finished many articles on the meditations or reflections of all twenty mysteries of the Rosary. As an easy way to do this in a group, please have a different member of your group perform the readings on the meditations or reflections. This will familiarize everyone where the articles exist and can be passed on by word of mouth, emails, etc. their locations so other prayer groups can form. If anyone needs assistance finding these meditations, please feel free to contact me at stidl@verizon.net.
Considering the lack of peace in the Middle East and Europe, it is high time to practice this devotion to bring peace to the world and peace to our lives.
Until next time, Laus Tibi, Christe. Deo Gratias. Gloria Tibi Domini. Praise be to God. See you in Paradise.
