Holy Spirit, come and lead me
There are many ways to encounter God. Many of them happen when we are not ready or not aware. But we should not look past planning meetings with God. Setting aside scheduled time to encounter God can help us tremendously. By having these planned encounters, we are more likely to see Him in the unplanned encounters.
St. Mother Theresa spent time in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament before going into the slums of Calcutta. She explained that by seeing Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, she could see Jesus in those she met. It was her planned encounter that helped her see God in the unplanned encounters.
What do our planned meetings with God need to look like? I imagine that each of our planned meetings with God will be as individualized as we are. It could be a prayer or reading the Bible. Making it a daily habit helps the most, but also trying to schedule it. Is it when we wake up? Just before bed? A certain time in the middle of the day? On the drive to or from work?
No matter who you are, God would love planned meetings with you. He loves you enough to die for you, so having a planned meeting with the one that He loves would really make Him happy.
