Charity is no substitute for Justice Withheld
Our Blue Knight Circle dedicated itself to the service under the direction of God’s General of the Angels St. Micheal the Archangel over two years ago. I write this on his feast day for him, and the archangels in God’s service. St. Micheal the Archangel is not the most powerful of angel, that honor went to Satan. Satan however took his power and turned away from God’s plan for creation. Satan actively opposed it out of jealousy for the role of man in salvation history.
So how is it St. Micheal the Archangel defeated a more powerful foe and banished Satan from heaven? He became the first to use the lesson repeated time after time in the Bible and by saints throughout Christian history. He freely placed his will to follow God’s. He allowed God’s power to flow through him as he struck blows for Heaven’s Army. So when his sword struck Satan, it was not St. Michael’s strength which won the fight. It was God’s power which overwhelmed the enemy because St Michael melded his will and actions with God’s desires.
The story is a just one in a long line of stories which tell the same theme. Moses had no power, but followed God’s orders and kept his people walking through a Red Sea raised by God. Young David putting aside the armory of men, for the smooth rock provided by God’s creation. King Josephat surrounded by five armies was told to stand still and not raise a hand as they destroyed each other. Even in post biblical times we have stories of Milvan Bridge, how Attila the Hun turned back from Rome, the Battle of Lepanto or the Poles saving Vienna with the same theme. Without military arms, who can deny the victories against tyranny by St John Paul or St Teresa of Kolkata against evil in their midst?
With this in mind we the Blue Knights of the St Michael the Archangel Circle will do our part to give our will and talents to the Lord. In doing this we will defend his church with all we can offer, trust in the Lord to see us through, and be ready to receive orders from God’s Commander in Chief and our patron saint.
