"Heart strings"
God promises us that He will never leave us alone. The fruits that gather around our table are just that. Whether it be one, two, five or 10, He is there also. Never leaving us to eat or laugh or talk alone. Offering our "Thanksgiving" before meals is a ritual that should be taught and enforced when we raise our children with respect and love for God who provides all things in necessity as well as nourishment.
We all gather at "one" table at the Holy Mass. Jesus's table. Recounting the event that took place at the "Last Supper". Whether we recline in the comfort of our homes are out at a restaurant or event, we must first be thankful for the blessings received. Family being one that is at the top of the list. We not only give thanks for the delicious food and it's portions but for the people God has blessed us within our lives. They can be present or not, but with deep thought and meaning, we close our eyes and fold our hands. Remembering those that have gone before us and the ones our eyes can behold before us.
Family is such a blessing. Those little hands folded in prayer, turn into big hands, gathered beside us in Union of Thanksgiving for each other. It is our purpose. It is our calling. Our repentance of our sins and the sins of the whole world can be accomplished in loving one another. Whether it be in our homes or at Mass, we give thanks for "the family". What a beautiful ritual offered to God in our gratitude for giving us each other.
Thank you God, I am grateful.
