The birthday that matters the most
Before we get started, please check out my latest on Locals; A new cane, local crime, and Guerilla marketing, and, if you would like to help me out, please go here; Help with medical bills, please check out my previous article, here; Weak, but strong in Christ
So, I'm not going to write the whole thing, but, the ESV-CE renders it like this,
“O God, save me by your name, and vindicate me by your might.
O God, hear my prayer; give ear to the words of my mouth.
For strangers have risen against me; ruthless men seek my life;
they do not set God before themselves.
Behold, God is my helper;
the Lord is the upholder of my life.
He will return the evil to my enemies;
in your faithfulness put an end to them.
With a freewill offering I will sacrifice to you;
I will give thanks to your name,
O LORD, for it is good.
For he has delivered me from every trouble, and my eye has looked in triumph on my enemies.”
(Psalm 54).
Okay, so, let's go through some of this,
“O God, save me by your name, and vindicate me by your might.” Alright, this shows an absolutely reliance on God. In fact, the very next verse is a good example of HOW to rely on God.
“O God, hear my prayer; give ear to the words of my mouth”.
And, a few verses down (I don't want to do every line),
“With a freewill offering I will sacrifice to you;
I will give thanks to your name, “
So, you freely chose to worship and praise God.
Some people choose not to.
“Behold, God is my helper;
the Lord is the upholder of my life. “
God is the very reason for our lives,
“I will give thanks to your name,
O LORD, for it is good.”
Thanking God is our moral obligation.
You'll note that I left out the parts about enemies.
Not that I don't have enemies, I'm sure I do.
But, that isn't my focus for my article.
